We believe that Small Groups offer a place for each of us to learn and share. They are also a great way to connect with others in the church through study, conversation and service. We want our groups to be a safe place for people to explore and nurture their faith. Coming this Fall
September 24th – November 19th
We all have questions about faith but are often unsure how to handle them or who to ask. If that sounds familiar, then Alpha is for you. Over 9 weeks questions like “Who is Jesus?” “Why and how should I pray?” and “Why and how should I read the Bible?” will be explored. Alpha will meet Sunday evenings, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. There will be a special Day Away on October 28th, 9:30 a.m. – 4:15 p.m.
Disciple I – Becoming Disciples Through Bible Study
Begins September 17th
This fall, join us for a 12-week comprehensive study of the Old Testament. Daily reading and weekly meetings engage participants in the guidance and wisdom that studying the Bible offers. Disciple I will meet Sunday evenings, 5:00 – 6:30 p.m.
Disciple IV – Under the Tree of Life
Begins September 17th
This 32-week study includes Old Testament writings, the Gospel of John, the Epistles of John, James, Jude and Revelation. Participants must have completed Disciple I. Disciple IV will meet Sunday evenings, 5:00 – 6:30 p.m.
The Gospel of John
Begins September 10th
This class will meet Sunday mornings, 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. for a study of John’s Gospel.
September 17th – November 5th
This 8-week study of grief and the process of dealing with it will be based on the book Beyond the Broken Heart by Julie Yarbrough. Anyone who is currently grieving, or anyone who is interested in learning about grief is welcome to attend. This study will meet on Sunday afternoons in the VUMC library.
Year-round Small Groups
Adult Sunday School
There are two adult Sunday School classes which meet during the 10:30 a.m. worship hour. Both classes are open to anyone interested in attending. Locations, and what each group is currently studying, are listed on the back of the bulletin each Sunday.
Sunday Morning Men’s Group
All men are welcome to be a part of this group. It meets on Sunday mornings, 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. in the church library. Stop by and meet the guys.
Wednesday Evening Women’s Group
This group meets weekly on Wednesday evenings, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. on the VUMC campus.
Wednesday Evening Men’s Bible Study
This group meets weekly at a home in Valencia, 7:45 – 9:00 p.m., for Bible study. Guys of all ages are welcome to attend.
Thursday Morning Men’s Bible Study
All men are welcome for weekly Bible study and discussion on Thursday mornings, 6:30 – 7:30 a.m. in Rooms 1 & 2 on the VUMC campus.
Friday Morning Women’s Group
All ladies are welcome to join this group of ladies for study and friendship. The group meets 8:30 – 9:30 a.m. in the church library. Feel free to stop by and check it out.
Prayer and Share
An on-going prayer and study group for women. Prayer and Share meets on Thursday mornings, 10:00 – 11:30 a.m., twice a month in the church library. Prayer and Share will resume on September 7th with a study of 1 Corinthians.
