My name is Peter Joseph, and I'm the Director of Youth Ministries here at Valencia United Methodist Church. We are excited you are here, and we want you to check out our youth program. . . .Why? I desire for you to have a closer relationship with Christ, and at the same time have a blast doing it. Who says church can't be fun, right? Most importantly, you are an important part of our church. And you will begin to grow in your faith as you begin to see our mission statement played out in both the junior high and senior high programs: The youth ministry exists to share God's love, to connect, to grow spiritually, and to equip you for ministry in being sent out, having your lives centered on God.

When we meet

Meets Sundays at 9:00 a.m. in the Youth Room & room B for bagels & Bible study, and attends the 10:30 a.m. contemporary worship service together.

6 to 7:30 pm (Dinner included!)

Tuesdays

7 to 8:15 pm (Resumes in late January)

7 to 8:15 pm (in Youth Room)

1st Sunday of the month
6:00 to 7:30 pm

All other Sundays
5:00 to 6:00 pm (not during the summer)

Thursdays
7:00 – 8:30 pm for Bible Study, games & fellowship

Sharing Hope To Advance Christ's Kingdom

The Senior High Ministry Meets on Sunday Nights from 6 pm to 7:30 pm for Fellowship, Bible Study, Worship, Games, and Dinner with the Junior High Ministry and also meets on Wednesday Nights for a more intimate Bible Study Time and also a time to get more in depth.

We have a Tuesday night Bible Study Group that meets in the Youth room from 7 to 8:15 pm led by Bonnie Joseph, Erica Camara, and Peter Joseph. (Resume in January)  

We have a Wednesday night Bible Study Group that Lori Wilson and Deb Manahan are leading in the youth room on Wednesday nights from 7 pm to 8:15 pm. Call Peter Joseph in the church office for more details.

THE EDGE Junior High Youth Group

The junior high ministry meets on Sunday nights from 6 pm to 7:30 pm the 1st Sunday of the month with the Senior High Group, and then @5 to 6 pm all other Sundays for fellowship, Bible Study, worship, games, and dinner with the Senior High group at 6 pm, and also meets on Thursday night for their own separate program from 7 pm to 8:30 pm. Come join us!!!

Leadership Team

We have an awesome EDGE & SHACK Leadership Team, and I couldn't do the job without them. They spend countless hours volunteering their time and energy to the ministry, because they have a passion to see the youth transformed by Christ! Our faithful servants are: Bonnie Joseph, Henry Morales, Cassie Taylor, Erica Camara, Pete Brosnan, Deb Manahan, Eric Schmidt, Lori Wilson, Greg Hayes, and Warren Bauer. They do everything from coordinating dinners on Sunday nights to teaching Sunday School to leading worship practice to leading games and so much more! I'm very thankful for all of them!

Peter Joseph - Director of Youth Ministries
Peter R. Joseph joined VUMC staff in May 2005 as Director of Youth Ministries, bringing to the community a wide range of academic and life experiences. He is supported throughout his ministry by his talented wife, Bonnie. When Peter isn’t thinking about how to assist youth to be the kind of people God desires them to be, he enjoys playing basketball, going to rock concerts, amusement parks and musicals. email Youth Director

Bonnie Joseph
Bonnie Joseph is 26 years old, and is part of both the SHACK and the EDGE Youth Staff. She is also part of the young adults Monday night small group, and is currently received her Masters in Social Work from Cal State Long Beach.  She works as a social worker full time at Patton State Hospital in San Bernardino.

Erica Camara
Erica Camara is 27 years old, recently married, and is a member of our SHACK Youth Staff. She has grown up here at Valencia United Methodist Church, is part of our young adults small group on Monday nights, and is currently a 4th/5th grade split teacher in Santa Clarita.

Deb Manahan
Deb Manahan works for Los Angeles Unified School District and has been with the youth at Valencia United Methodist Church for a little over 6 years. She brings many wonderful gifts to our program.

Henry Morales
I'm glad to say that we have a new junior high leader that will be helping us out named Henry Morales who is 20 years old. He went with us on our last Sierra Service Project Team, and he comes from Santa Clarita United Methodist Church, where he has attended for 5 years. He just finished his 2nd year of college at College of the Canyons and currently works at Geek Squad.
