Helping locally
Local Mission Project:
Angel Food Ministries:
VUMC has a heart for mission and ministry which has been expressed by our support of numerous global, national and local projects. It has long been a dream to establish and maintain a significant local mission project. Over $18,000 has already been saved since 2004 and more continues to be set aside every month.
This dream has become a reality with the launch of Angel Food Ministries at VUMC in July 2008. AFM is a non-profit, non-denominational organization dedicated to providing food relief in communities throughout the United States. This new ministry enables us to help people in our community each month by making available high quality, "restaurant grade" food for an amazing $30 per unit.

F.I.S.H.
(Feeding Individuals and Sharing Hope):
Volunteers gather together every Thursday evening at 6:30 pm at the church to make sack meals for families less fortunate than us. From the church, they go to Valencia K-mart, arriving between 7:00 and 7:15 pm, where they find approximately 15 adults and 30-40 children waiting for them behind the store. This is a ministry the whole family can participate in. If you would like to help, join us on Thursdays, or drop off goodies for the sack meals at the church office during the week.
Homeless Shelter
The Santa Clarita Valley Homeless Shelter operates from November through March. Volunteers can participate as greeters, food servers or overnight hosts. Our church takes responsibility for staffing the shelter for two weeks; however, individuals can volunteer for other days as well.
Youth Prison Ministry
Volunteers help provide incarcerated youths with the option for life changing direction and strength through a personal relationship with God, through study of the Bible and the opportunity to experience the richness of God's Love!. This is accomplished through weekly non-denominational ecumenical Sunday worships and Bible Studies, as well as one-on-one Religious Counseling for all youths who choose to participate.
Food Pantry
The Food Pantry is a community based organization which our church supports by collecting canned foods. The food is then distributed to approximately 2000 people per month who are in need. This involvement includes a few meetings and occasional participation in a food collection campaign.
