Be Out There Sunday

One Sunday morning each year, we take the church out into the community to serve and assist local agencies, schools, and churches. Tasks include clean-up, painting, planting, minor repairs and more. Watch for our 2018 Be Out There date.

Santa Clarita Winter Shelter, a Bridge to Home Service

santa clarita winter shelterAt the heart of the Bridge to Home’s activities is its operation of the Santa Clarita Shelter.  The Santa Clarita Shelter, currently an emergency winter shelter, is open late-Fall through mid-Spring each year.  When the shelter is in operation, clients check in from 6-10 p.m. (later with proof of after-hours work or school) and must check out by 8 a.m. The shelter accepts clients delivered or referred by the sheriff at any time. All clients staying at the shelter are required to obey posted rules, including zero tolerance for alcohol, drugs, weapons, theft, and aggressive, disrespectful, or violent behavior; smoking only in a designated area; and abiding by the call for lights and smoking lamp out at 10 p.m.

Valencia UMC unpaid servants help staff the shelter as needed and can also help by providing needed items such as food, kitchen, hygiene, and office supplies or cash.
